Activate Enterprise
Activate Enterprise (/licence) is where a Community server has its licence
key entered.
The page exists because Community is defined by having no licence key, and one of the things it does not have is the admin panel on port 2087 — which would otherwise be the only place in the product to type one. So the key goes in here, on port 2083, where the only person who can reach a Community panel already is.
Paste the key and submit. The key is checked before anything is written: it carries what it grants inside it, so the panel can tell an Enterprise key from a mistyped one without asking the licensing server, and it tells you which it was.
If the key is good, the panel hands it to hitechcloudcli, which lifts the
limits, opens port 2087, switches on the Enterprise modules, and installs the
components those modules need in the background. The panel and the admin panel
restart behind the response — the Enterprise pages have routes once the panel
comes back up.
The page then stops existing. On Enterprise it returns 404: the licence belongs to the admin panel, and a hosting account is not where an existing licence is overwritten.
This page is not in enabled_modules and no hosting plan grants it. Both of
those are things an administrator can switch off, and the way out of Community
must not be one of them.
