Database upgrade
Server > Database upgrade (/server/db-upgrade) moves the MariaDB server
to a newer long-term release (10.6, 10.11, 11.4, 11.8).
One background run, with its log in
/var/log/hitechcloud/updates/db-upgrade-<time>.log:
- checks that the server is MariaDB, the target is newer and there is room for a dump and a copy of the data directory;
- dumps every database (
all.sql.gz); - stops the server and copies its data directory and configuration;
- switches to MariaDB's signed repository for the target and upgrades the packages;
- starts the server, runs
mariadb-upgradeand checks the version.
If step 4 or 5 fails, the previous packages, data directory and configuration
are put back and the server is started again, by itself. Roll back does
the same later, while the copy is kept (until the next upgrade); anything
written since the upgrade is lost. Every site's database is unavailable while
an upgrade runs. Type UPGRADE (or ROLLBACK) to confirm.
