PHP Settings

Manage the default PHP version and configuration files for new user accounts.

Default Version

The default PHP version used for new user accounts is not set on this page — it is configurable from the Edit User Defaults page.

Available Options

These options determine which PHP settings users can modify from their HiTechCloud > PHP Options page.

The default editable options include:

allow_url_fopen
date.timezone
disable_functions
display_errors
error_reporting
file_uploads
log_errors
max_execution_time
max_input_time
max_input_vars
memory_limit
open_basedir
output_buffering
post_max_size
short_open_tag
upload_max_filesize
zlib.output_compression

Default PHP.INI Files

Here you can edit the PHP.INI configuration files that will be applied to new user accounts.

Select a PHP version to open its php.ini file for editing. After making changes, click Save to apply them.

To revert to the original PHP.INI settings, click Restore Default, then click Save.

PHP Versions

Settings > PHP > Versions (/settings/php/versions) installs and removes whole PHP versions on this server.

A default install brings up eight versions — 5.6, 7.4 and 8.1 through 8.6. Every installed version runs its own FPM master and its own idle workers from boot, whether or not a website uses it, so the versions nobody asked for cost memory and processes for nothing. The page shows what each version is carrying and lets you take the unused ones off; the rest are a minute away when somebody needs one.

Nothing on this page decides what may be removed. hitechcloudcli phpversions remove refuses a version any website still runs on, and refuses the default for new sites, and names the websites in its refusal. The page shows that answer before the click instead of after it.

Editions

This is the admin panel, so this page is Enterprise. On a Community server there is no admin panel, and PHP versions are installed and removed from the hosting panel on port 2083 instead — see PHP Extensions. On Enterprise a hosting account cannot: a PHP version is shared by every account on the machine, and removing one takes it from the neighbours.
