LiteSpeed WebAdmin console
OpenLiteSpeed and LiteSpeed Enterprise have a console of their own on port
7080 for real-time statistics and server settings. HiTechAdmin opens it,
closes it and sets its login on Domains > WebEngines, in the
LiteSpeed WebAdmin console card.
Why it did not open before 4.1.2
The installer binds the console to 127.0.0.1:7080 (and put it back there
every time the web server configuration was written), port 7080 was never
opened in the firewall, nothing set the console's own login, and the old
"WebAdmin Console (:7080)" button sent the browser to an address nothing
answered on from outside.
Opening it
- Set a login first: WebAdmin user (
adminunless you change it), a new password of 8 to 128 characters, and Set password. Other console users are kept. - In Allowed addresses, keep
ALLor, better, list your own addresses and networks separated by commas (203.0.113.7, 198.51.100.0/24). LiteSpeed refuses every other address. - Open the console. The listener moves to
*:7080with the panel's own certificate (the panel hostname's, or the self-signed fallback), port 7080 is opened in CSF, firewalld or ufw, and LiteSpeed is restarted gracefully. - Open WebAdmin console now links to
https://<panel hostname>:7080/.
The choice is remembered: a later rewrite of the configuration, an update or
hitechcloudcli firewall ports keeps the console open. Close the console
puts it back on 127.0.0.1:7080 and closes the port.
Changes you make to the server configuration inside the console are written to the configuration HiTechCloud manages, and may be replaced the next time HiTechCloud rewrites it. Use the console for its statistics and for settings HiTechCloud does not manage.
From a terminal
hitechcloudcli litespeed console status [--json]
hitechcloudcli litespeed console open [--allow 203.0.113.7,198.51.100.0/24]
hitechcloudcli litespeed console close
echo 'new-password' | hitechcloudcli litespeed console password --user admin --password-stdin
Both products are handled: OpenLiteSpeed's admin_config.conf and LiteSpeed
Enterprise's admin_config.xml are edited in place, the original kept once as
.hitechcloud-original. The password is stored in
/usr/local/lsws/admin/conf/htpasswd as the hash every console version
verifies; it never appears on a command line.
