OS updates

Server > OS updates (/server/updates) shows the operating system's pending package updates, security updates first, and installs them.

  • Install security updates or Install all updates run in the background; the page follows the run and shows the last lines of its log (/var/log/hitechcloud/updates/os-<time>.log).
  • Automatic security updates turns on unattended-upgrades (Debian, Ubuntu) or dnf-automatic with upgrade_type = security (AlmaLinux, Rocky, RHEL), installing it if needed.
  • A banner says when the server needs a reboot to run what was installed (a new kernel or a core library), and which packages asked for it.
